Jessica Roush, a recent graduate from Leesville Road High School took the first place award in the Ladies Auxiliary Young American Creative Patriotic Art competeon. Jessica's art, pictured here, is a pencil and colored pencil picture. It shows brave and noble service people through various periods of time in our history. Men and women, such as these have sacrificed much for the noble cause to keep our country free. The ultimate sacrifice of life is symbolized by the field of head stones, forming a flag in the foreground. The artwork, after winning first place for our Post, went on to win first place in the District 7 competition, and then win the top honor in the State. Her picture was sent to Kansas City for the National competition. Congratulations to Jessica on her achievement, and good luck in the future. This contest is an annual competition, opened to 9th through 12th grade students. |
